Group broadcast vs nearest-truck myths

The demo slide said nearest free truck. On the floor every supermarket driver saw the same open cage call. The first tap won. The map still mattered. The offer scope was the group. ## What AOS actually broadcasts today twinzo [AOS](https://www.twinzo.com/glossary/aos-automated-ordering-system) (commonly known as [FGS](https://www.twinzo.com/glossary/forklift-guidance-system)) turns a floor event into a claimable [work order](https://www.twinzo.com/glossary/work-order). That job is shown to a configured [driver group](https://www.twinzo.com/glossary/driver-group). Dock forklift drivers see dock work. Line-feed forklift drivers see pallet brings and empties. Tugger drivers see milk-run delivery after supermarket prep. Everyone in the group who is eligible can accept. The system does not currently hide the offer from farther trucks inside that group based on live location. That design matches how many plants already think in crews and vehicle classes, and how warehouse systems often gate work by resource group, queue, and equipment type before any distance rule runs. Group broadcast is the structured version of the old radio channel, with a permanent record. Mixing tugger milk-run stages with direct forklift pallet jobs in one pool recreates the wrong claim problem. The shapes are under [milk-run orders vs direct forklift orders](https://www.twinzo.com/glossary/milk-run-orders-vs-direct-forklift-orders). How the request becomes the work order is under [how a floor request becomes a work order](https://www.twinzo.com/wiki/how-a-floor-request-becomes-a-work-order). How that differs from SAP-state guidance is under [AOS on tracked forklifts vs SAP-state forklift guidance](https://www.twinzo.com/wiki/aos-on-tracked-forklifts-vs-sap-state-forklift-guidance). ## Nearest routing is real. It is not what AOS promises today. Dispatch research and some fleet products do assign the closest idle qualified mover. Distance-based rules can cut empty travel on average. They also have a known failure mode: remote stops wait too long when nearby hops keep winning. Multi-attribute rules that blend distance with waiting time exist for that reason. It makes it a different product promise than group-first accept. ## What live location still buys without nearest routing Tracked movers still report place at medium precision around 1–3 m (3–10 ft) for aisle and buffer work. Acceptance stores who took the job and where they stood. Paths, travel time, and [empty travel](https://www.twinzo.com/glossary/empty-travel) fill the [spatially oriented dataset](https://www.twinzo.com/glossary/spatially-oriented-dataset) under the live hall. Supervisors see idle trucks in the group while a call sits open, including capacity freed when a [milk run](https://www.twinzo.com/glossary/milk-run) lap is quieter than theoretical consumption. Continuous improvement and [correlation and causality analytics](https://www.twinzo.com/glossary/correlation-and-causality-analytics) later ask which idle clusters keep preceding the same wait. Location is proof and coaching fuel. It is not today's offer filter. Milk-run slack versus dynamic pull is under [milk runs on theoretical consumption vs dynamic pull across lines](https://www.twinzo.com/wiki/milk-runs-on-theoretical-consumption-vs-dynamic-pull-across-lines). ## How teams keep the myth out of the RFP **1. Write offer scope as driver group broadcast in the success test** - First accept wins inside the group. **2. Write location success as acceptance place, path, and idle visibility** - Separate from who may see the job. **3. If you need automatic nearest assignment, name it as a different requirement** - Do not bury it under AOS language. **4. Fix membership when the wrong role keeps accepting** - That is group design, covered under [how to size and split driver groups](https://www.twinzo.com/wiki/how-to-size-and-split-driver-groups). AOS setup sits under [material order automation](https://www.twinzo.com/material-order-automation) and [internal logistics optimization](https://www.twinzo.com/optimize-internal-logistics), with depth on the [features overview](https://www.twinzo.com/features).
